Makandi Book Launch

Tom Rimbui, whose teaching career spans over five decades, has had wide teaching and administrative experience in academia in Kenya and Rwanda. Over the years, he has also written across fiction, non-fiction, and academic work.

His latest book, Makandi begins in Meru, Eastern Kenya, where village, memory and family duty collide with the pull of the city.

At its heart is Makandi herself, a mother whose sacrifice, pain, and stubborn hope make this a quiet, devastating story about ambition, shame, and the long road back home.

Together with his wife, Zipporah, he raised a family of notable East African creatives, including jazz pianist Aaron, Music/TV producer Tim, and Nairobi Chapel worship pastor, Karimi.
